Marlow Goods, one product page
Tess Alam
$2,200. Delivery Friday 2 October. One round of notes.
Includes the page in their current type, desktop and mobile, set with the copy she sent on 9 September. Does not include a second page, new copy, or a photo.
Before I would start, Tess wrote "can you just do the gift guide page too while you are in there." I did not open the file.
Sent 12 September:
Tess,
This is one product page for Marlow Goods, $2,200, delivered Friday 2 October. It includes that page in your current type, desktop and mobile, set with the copy you sent on 9 September. It does not include a second page, new copy, or a photo. I start when you confirm this sentence.
The gift guide is a separate page. I can do it after this one, for $1,400, delivered 9 October. I will not fold it into the $2,200.

I answered the extra in the same note and still refused to start. A second email would have looked like a negotiation. Starting "while we sort the gift guide" would have been me working for free and calling it momentum.
Reply that stays in the folder if she asks for something else after the sentence is confirmed:
Tess,
That sits outside the sentence you confirmed. I can add it after this page is delivered, at a separate price. I will not put it inside the current job.

Adapt: Replace the page, $2,200, and 2 October with your deliverable, your price, and your day. Name what is out in the same breath as what is in.
Adapt: If they have not asked for an extra, delete the gift-guide paragraph. Do not invent a second offer they did not request.
Adapt: For a repeat client, cut "I start when you confirm this sentence" only if they have confirmed scope in writing before. Otherwise leave it, including with people you like.
